The medicine is effective for certain types of fungal infections. Your doctor may perform tests to identify the source of the infections.
How Taken
The common dosage for adults is 330 mg as a single dose or in separate amounts. Children should take about 3.3 mg per pound of body weight a day.
Warnings/Precautions
Gris-PEG may enhance the sensitivity to light. Avoid exposure to intense natural and artificial light. Inform your doctor in case you experience lupus erythematosus or lupus-like condition manifested by arthritis, red butterfly rash over the nose and cheeks, tiredness, weakness, sensitivity to sunlight, and skin eruptions. If you are using the medicine for a longer period of time, your doctor should regularly monitor kidney function, liver function and blood cell production. Gris-PEG cannot prevent you from fungal infections. This medicine may reduce the effectiveness of contraceptives. Men should wait at least 6 months before they can have a child. Women should not become pregnant during treatment with Gris-PEG.
Missed Dose
In case you miss a dose, take the drug as soon as you remember. If it is already time for your next dose, skip the missed one and take the scheduled one. Do no take a double dose of Gris-PEG.
Possible Side Effects
The most common side effects are associated with hypersensitivity and include skin rashes, urticaria, erythema multiform-like drug reactions, and rarely, angioneurotic edema. If you experience some of these side effects, you may have to discontinue the usage of Gris-PEG and to treat the adverse reactions. An extended treatment has been reported to cause paresthesias of the hands and feet. Other side effects include oral thrush, nausea, vomiting, epigastria distress, diarrhea, headache, fatigue, dizziness, insomnia, mental confusion, and impairment of performance of routine activities. Stop using Gris-PEG if granulocytopenia occurs. Serious side effects occur very rare and are usually due to high dosages, long treatment, or both.
Storage
Gris-PEG should be kept at a controlled room temperature 15�-30�C (59�-86�F) in a tightly closed container, away from light.
Overdose
If you suspect an overdose of Gris-PEG, immediately search for medical help.

Gris-PEG may enhance the effects of alcohol. The combine usage of Gris-PEG and alcohol may cause your heart to beat faster and your skin may be flushed.
